MOOSE SAFARI
Experience Norway’s largest mammal, the king of the forest, up close.
Join us for an exciting experience in Finnskogen!
Finnskogen has one of the richest selections of wildlife in Norway. Here you can find the mythical wolf, as well as bear, lynx, capercaillie (Tetrao urogallus), moose, roe deer, eagle, hawk, squirrel and rare species of owls such as Great Grey Owl and Ural Owl.
On our MOOSE SAFARI, we use a professional Norwegian Elkhound and experienced tour guides who have extensive experience tracking moose. During the trip, you will learn about how moose hunting with a dog is carried out and get an insight into how to read the dog and let it lead the way. The moose doesn't necessarily follow well-trodden paths and fixed routes, and while the dog finds smell and tracks, you as participants must be prepared for encounters with the variable terrain.
How close we get to the moose depends on several factors such as: Weather and wind, which direction we are coming from and how quietly we manage to move in rough terrain. You will feel the hunting instinct of the past as we approach the moose. The pulse increases and the tension rises!
